Why does Ukraine want to be a member of NATO? – Russia Ukraine latest news

What is NATO?

NATO was formed in 1949 by the United States, Canada, France, Britain, and six other European countries. Now there are 30 countries in this organization. These NATO member states engage or help each other in the political, diplomatic, and military spheres. If a foreign country invades or speaks of an attack on a member of this organization, it does not leave NATO. In that case, all the NATO member countries come together and face the outside world to give a worthy answer.

Why does Ukraine want to be a member of NATO?

Ukraine knows that it will not be able to fight Russia independently. Ukraine does not have an army, sophisticated tools or money like Russia. In 2014, Russia de facto occupied the territory of Crimea, Ukraine, and annexed it. Ukraine fears that Russia will retake its territory if it does not increase its power. Out of this insecurity, Ukraine wants to become a member of NATO to be protected.

How was NATO born? | Everything you should know about NATO.

That is, NATO was born to corner Russia or annex the Soviet Union. To understand this, one has to look at history. World War II lasted from 1939 to 1945. The United States, France, the Soviet Union, and Britain fought against Italy and Japan. The US and World War ended in 1945 with the dropping of the atomic bomb on Japan. However, the Soviet Union did not respond favourably to the US move. Despite being an ally of the war, they question why the United States did not give them any information about the atomic bomb or keep it secret from them. This, therefore, draws the two countries towards virtually COLD WAR. Since then, both countries have been eager to increase their power. The goal of both countries is to attract as many countries as possible. And that’s exactly when NATO was created. The United States created NATO with the support of 12 countries. And today that NATO is an organization of 30 countries.
